Christian Dior’s Resort 2027 collection marked a striking new chapter for the house under creative director Jonathan Anderson, presented at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Anderson drew on the brand’s deep ties to cinema and California culture, turning the runway into a cinematic playground filled with references to vintage film, California poppies, and Tinseltown glamour. Models walked among iconic street lamps and classic cars with the hills of Los Angeles in view, giving the show a relaxed yet magnetic energy that went beyond traditional resort dressing.
The silhouettes ranged from fluid dresses in soft hues to structured film noir style coats that felt timeless and bold at once. Semi-sheer drop-waist dresses adorned with rosette details brought romance and playfulness, while flannel coats and relaxed trousers referenced classic Hollywood style. Anderson paired refined pieces with casual touches like jeans to create a wardrobe that is both aspirational and wearable.
A standout element of the collection was the headpieces by Philip Treacy, sculptural feathered creations that read words like “Dior,” “Star,” “Flow,” and “Buzz.” These accents enhanced the show’s storytelling and added a whimsical, artistic layer to Anderson’s cinematic vision, highlighting the connection between fashion, fantasy, and Hollywood glamour.
The color palette combined sunny California hues with grounded neutrals. Light yellows and soft creams reflected the coast, while black and gray provided depth and contrast. Textures ranged from shimmering satins to layered fabrics that moved beautifully on the runway, giving the collection energy and dimension.
Resort 2027 felt like a celebration of storytelling and place, blending Dior’s French craftsmanship with the freedom and glamour of Los Angeles. Anderson showed a clear vision for the house’s future, offering clothes that are both cinematic and wearable, playful yet sophisticated, and perfectly in tune with the modern woman.
