COS Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear

COS has always been at its best when it takes familiar clothes and makes you reconsider them through proportion, fabric, and styling, and Fall 2026 felt like a particularly strong example of that. Presented in New York, the collection continued creative director Karin Gustafsson’s ongoing interest in the relationship between structure and movement, but there was something more confident about the way it all came together this season. Long coats, relaxed tailoring, fluid trousers, knitwear, and beautifully simple dresses created the foundation, with pieces often falling away from the body rather than feeling overly fitted or controlled. What I enjoyed most was how sophisticated everything looked without losing the ease that makes COS so appealing in the first place. There is always a danger with minimal clothing that it can become too sterile, but here the proportions and textures gave even the simplest pieces personality. A coat could feel dramatic purely because of its length and movement, while softer layers brought a sense of lightness against more substantial outerwear. It felt like clothes designed for someone who appreciates simplicity but still wants to have fun getting dressed.
There was also a real sense of contrast throughout the collection. Sharper tailoring sat alongside softer, more fluid silhouettes, while sheer and lightweight fabrics played against heavier wool and tactile textures. That push and pull has become an important part of Gustafsson’s language at COS, allowing relatively straightforward pieces to feel much more considered once they are layered together. Black played a particularly strong role, giving many of the looks an almost evening quality, but rather than feeling severe, the darker palette made the different textures and silhouettes more noticeable. There is something very appealing about the way COS approaches refinement at this price point. The focus stays on beautiful fabrics, strong proportions, and the way each piece is cut, which often makes even the simplest clothes feel special. The styling reinforced that idea too. Nothing felt overdone, yet the combinations were interesting enough to make you rethink how you might wear similar pieces already in your closet.
More than anything, Fall 2026 feels like COS becoming increasingly comfortable with the space it occupies as everyday pieces. COS continues to make a convincing case for clothes that rely on proportion and fabric rather than novelty. It is a familiar formula for the brand, but when the coats fall this beautifully, the trousers have the right amount of volume, and the simplest pieces feel desirable enough to immediately imagine in your own closet, it is difficult to argue with.
