Standing Ground's Fall 2026 Couture debut felt less like the arrival of a new couture house and more like the beginning of something that already seemed fully formed. Michael Stewart has spent years refining his vision, and that patience is evident in every look. Rather than chasing novelty, he continues to evolve the sculptural language that has become synonymous with the brand, proving that a strong point of view only becomes more compelling with time.
The collection is built around long, statuesque silhouettes that feel both ancient and futuristic. Stewart draws inspiration from Ireland's standing stones, and you can see that influence in the way the garments rise from the body with quiet strength. Extreme corsetry, developed in collaboration with legendary corset maker Mr. Pearl, creates beautifully sculpted proportions, while draped jersey, velvet, and architectural coats soften the collection with movement and fluidity.
One of the most fascinating elements is Stewart's signature beading technique. Thousands of tiny beads are individually threaded into sheer channels within the garments, creating structure as much as decoration. Sometimes the effect is almost invisible, while in other looks the raised lines trace the contours of jackets, skirts, and dramatic collars. Alongside sculptural corsets, suede effect breastplates, and soft, unexpected colors including butter yellow, periwinkle, mandarin orange, and bubblegum pink, the craftsmanship feels quietly extraordinary rather than overtly extravagant.
The finale brought an emotional close to the presentation. Kristen McMenamy appeared barefoot in a breathtaking wedding dress crafted from traditional Irish Carrickmacross lace, a technique created by 26 artisans over 4,000 hours. It was more than a couture gown. It was a celebration of Irish craftsmanship and the heritage that has shaped Stewart's work from the very beginning.
Among all the looks, below are the ones that stood out as our favorites, best capturing the sculptural beauty, remarkable craftsmanship, and distinctive vision of the collection.
